Biografia
Nato l’8 maggio 1945 ad Allentown, in Pennsylvania, USA e cresciuto in una famiglia di musicisti, Jarrett inizia a suonare il pianoforte all’età di 3 anni. Sin dall’infanzia scrive musica e prima ancora di diventare adolescente si trova in tour come musicista professionista, suonando tanto composizioni di musica classica che proprie.
inizia a studiare al Berklee College Of Music all’inizio degli anni ’60, finendo per dirigere ben presto un proprio gruppo di musicisti. Dalla metà degli anni ’60 Jarrett si trasferisce a vivere a New York, dove passa a suonare con il grande batterista nero Art Blakey prima di finire, nel 1969, alla corte di Miles Davis, con il quale esordisce all’organo per passare poi al piano elettrico.
