Simple Minds: esce il box per i 40 anni di “Once upon a time”
In occasione del 40esimo anniversario dell'album dei Simple Minds “Once Upon A Time”, il prossimo 17 ottobre uscirà una edizione speciale in 5 CD, versione ridotta della Super Deluxe pubblicata nel 2016. “Once Upon A Time” venne pubblicato in origine nell'ottobre del 1985 per la produzione di Jimmy Iovine e Bob Clearmountain e la copertina di Anton Corbijn.
“Once Upon A Time” è l'album di maggior successo dei Simple Minds, avendo raggiunto il primo posto della classifica di vendita nel Regno Unito e la top ten negli Stati Uniti. Ha inoltre prodotto quattro singoli arrivati nella top 20.
Sulla scia del singolo "Don't You (Forget About Me)", “Once Upon a Time” si è rivelato l'album che ha spinto i Simple Minds verso la vetta del successo artistico e commerciale. Il disco contiene i singoli "Alive and Kicking", "All the Things She Said", "Sanctify Yourself" e "Ghost Dancing". Per promuovere l'album, i Simple Minds intrapresero il loro tour più lungo, partito dagli Stati Uniti nell'ottobre del 1985, li vide esibirsi in Europa, negli Stati Uniti, in Canada, Giappone, Australia e Nuova Zelanda.
L’edizione da 5 CD in uscita il 17 ottobre è composta dall'album originale, bonus track, tra cui le versioni originale ed extended di "Don't You (Forget About Me)”, single edit, mix 12”, B-side, tracce rare e il concerto "Live in The City of Light", oltre a un libretto di 36 pagine con foto rare, interviste con Jim Kerr e Charlie Burchill e una guida all’album traccia per traccia. Il disco sarà disponibile anche in vinile rosso, in un gatefold con la foto della band di Anton Corbijn scattata al Live Aid nel 1985 e contenente per la prima volta il singolo "Don't You (Forget About Me)”.
La band capitanata da Jim Kerr si esibirà a breve in concerto in Italia. Il 15 luglio sarà di scena all'Arena di Verona, il 24 luglio al Lucca Summer Festival e poi, per due volte, al Teatro Antico di Taormina il 26 e 27 luglio.
Sul palco insieme al cantante Jim Kerr ci saranno Charlie Burchill (chitarre, tastiere), Gordy Goudie (chitarra acustica), Ged Grimes (basso), Erik Ljunggren (tastiere), Cherisse Osei (batteria) e Sarah Brown (voce).
