I Maneskin trionfano agli MTV VMAs: battuti Foo Fighters e RHCP
I Måneskin trionfano agli MTV Video Music Awards 2023, contro ogni pronostico. La rock band romana si è aggiudicata sul palco del Prudential Center di Newark, nel New Jersey, il premio come Best Rock con il video di "The loneliest". Battuti i Foo Fighters, che erano favoriti alla vittoria alla vigilia con il video di "The teacher”, ma anche i Muse di “You make me feel like it’s Halloween”, i Linkin Park di “Lost”, i Metallica di “Lux Aeterna” e i Red Hot Chili Peppers di “Tippa my tongue”. Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi e Ethan Torchio (che per l'occasione si è presentato con i capelli tinti di giallo) hanno travolto l'arena da 20 mila posti che questa notte ha ospitato la quarantesima edizione dell’evento organizzato dalla storica emittente, che ogni anno premia i migliori videoclip e le migliori canzoni dell’ultima annata discografica, sulle note del nuovo singolo "Honey (Are you coming?)".
Con la vittoria del premio come Best Rock, la band di "Zitti e buoni" riesce così in un clamoroso bis, dopo il trionfo dello scorso anno, quando il quartetto si aggiudicò la statuetta come Best Alternative, con il videoclip di “I wanna be your slave”.
La cerimonia di premiazione degli MTV VMAs 2023, condotta come lo scorso anno da Nicki Minaj, ha visto anche Taylor Swift trionfare con nove premi su undici nomination, inclusi quello come "Artist of the year", "Video of the year" e "Song of the year". Quest'anno, per la prima volta nella storia dell’evento, c'erano solamente donne in lizza nella categoria "artista dell'anno": accanto a Swift, c'erano Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Shakira - vincitrice del "Video Vanguard Award" - e Doja Cat. Nel corso della serata molte sono state anche le performance dal vivo, con le esibizioni di Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B e Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat e Fall Out Boy, oltre ai Måneskin.
