"Spider-Man: turn off the dark" con musiche di Bono e The Edge ha ricevuto due nomination ai Tony Awards, i premi che in campo teatrale sono una sorta di equivalente degli Oscar. I Tony premiano i conseguimenti raggiunti nei teatri statunitensi e includono i musical. La vincita di un Tony nelle categorie maggiori può significare talvolta un forte aumento delle vendite dei biglietti. I riconoscimenti sono dedicati ad Antoinette Perry, fondatrice dell'American Theatre Wing. Le nomination per lo spettacolo del cantante e del chitarrista degli U2 sono per George Tsypin (Best Scenic Design Of A Musical) e per Eiko Ishioka (Best Costume Design Of A Musical). Il che suona un po' come uno schiaffo a Bono e The Edge, senza menzioni nelle due categorie in cui avrebbero potuto figurare, Best Orchestrations e Best Original Score.
