Biografia
David Thomas nasce il 14 giugno 1953 a Moss Point, Mississipi. Conosciuto soprattutto come componente dei Pere Ubu – che forma assieme a Peter Laughner nel 1975 – pubblica con il gruppo una serie di lavori, tra cui THE MODERN DANCE (1978), DUB HOUSING (1979) e THE ART OF WALKING (1980). Quando la band si scioglie nel 1982, Thomas si dedica alla carriera solista, collaborando prima con Richard Thompson nel progetto The Sound of the Sand and Other Songs of the Pedestrians e poi incidendo VARIATIONS ON A THEME e WINTER COME HOME. Seguono MORE PLACES FOREVER (1985) e MONSTER WALKS THE WINTER LAKE dello stesso anno. Nel 1987 è la volta di BLAME THE MESSENGER, registrato con una band chiamata Wooden Birds. I Pere Ubu –in formazione rimaneggiata – si ritrovano nel 1988 per THE TENEMENT YEAR...
