E' degli Oasis la migliore canzone britannica di tutti i tempi
Gli Oasis si sono confermati in cima alla annuale classifica delle migliori canzoni britanniche di tutti i tempi. La band dei fratelli Gallagher hanno piazzato ben quattro canzoni nella Top Ten della Top 100, votata dagli ascoltatori di Radio X.
Per il secondo anno consecutivo “Live Forever” ha conquistato la prima posizione (gli altri tre brani degli Oasis presenti nelle prime dieci posizioni sono “Champagne Supernova”, “Slide Away” e “Don't Look Back in Anger”). Gli Oasis sono stati anche la band più presente nella Top 100 con 16 canzoni, un record per il sondaggio della stazione radio che è giunto quest'anno alla sua decima edizione. Dopo di loro gli Arctic Monkeys con otto segnalazioni e gli Stone Roses con sette.
Sul secondo gradino del podio “Bohemian Rhapsody” dei Queen , al terzo posto della classifica la già citata “Slide away” degli Oasis . Amy Winehouse è l'artista femminile con la canzone più alta in classifica, "Back to Black" al decimo posto.
Matt Deverson , caporedattore di Radio X, riferendosi alla vicina reunion dal vivo degli Oasis , ha dichiarato: "‘Live Forever’ doveva essere al primo posto? Con gli Oasis che dominano la classifica con 16 canzoni, riflette il crescente entusiasmo degli ascoltatori di Radio X per quello che sarà il più grande momento musicale e culturale dell'anno, con la più grande band del mondo in questo momento!".
