Bruce Springsteen, "The river - The ties that bind" canzone per canzone: "The price you pay"

Uscirà il 4 dicembre “The ties that bind - The River collection”. La nuova pubblicazione del Boss è un box dedicato ad uno dei suoi periodi più creativi, quello che lo porto nel 1980 alla pubblicazione di “The river”, il primo doppio album della sua carriera. Nel cofanetto ci sono 52 canzoni su 4 CD, tra cui un disco di outtakes, l'inedito "The River: The single album", un concerto intero in DVD registrato a Tempe, all'Arizona State University, e un documentario inedito, girato da Thom Zimny, con Springsteen che racconta il suo storico album, e suona nuove ed inedite versioni acustiche, nel cortile di casa. Ogni giorno Rockol vi propone il racconto dello storico album, canzone per canzone.
 

Delle gemme nascoste di "The river", "The price you pay" (suonata dal vivo 34 volte) è LA canzone. Un inizio con piano e chitarra acustica, un testo toccante sulle scelte e le conseguenze del diventare adulti: "Now with their hands held high, they reached out for the open skies/And in one last breath they built the roads they'd ride to their death/Driving on through the night, unable to break away/From the restless pull of the price you pay". Il finale ("and girl before the end of the day, I'm gonna tear it down and throw it away") è da brividi con una coda pianistica di Bittan che ricorda un po' quella di "Racing in the street"- che però viene sfumata.
