Come già annunciato lo scorso 23 gennaio, si è alla fine concretizzato in un disco l'iniziativa di Music for Occupy, branca musicale di Occupy Wall Street che immetterà sul mercato il prossimo 15 maggio una colossale raccolta i cui proventi dalle vendite verranno destinati al sostegno del movimento di protesta nato negli Stati Uniti e salito all'onore delle cronache internazionali grazie all'occupazione di Zuccotti Park, a New York: la versione "fisica" del disco, pubblicata sotto forma di cofanetto contenente quattro CD, includerà 78 canzoni, che saliranno a 100 per l'edizione digitale del box set. Tra gli artisti che hanno aderito all'iniziativa concedendo l'utilizzo di un proprio brano (in alcuni casi inedito, come per "Earth division" dei Mogwai) sono da annoverare Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Yo La Tengo, New Party Systems (nuova band che vede militare nelle proprie fila elementi di TV on the Radio, Liturgy e Notekillers), Ladytron, Tom Morello (già chitarrista di Rage Against The Machine e Audioslave), Debbie Harry, Thee Oh Sees, Amanda Palmer, UNKLE, Girls Against Boys, Willie Nelson, il regista Michael Moore (che per l'occasione si è prodotto in una cover di Bob Dylan) e molti altri.
