Ad appena un anno dal disco che li ha consacrati all'interno della scena folk-rock statunitense, gli Okkervil River si apprestano a pubblicare un nuovo album la cui uscita è prevista per il 9 settembre.
Il disco, intitolato "The stand ins", è stato presentato dalla label Jagjaguwar come il seguito naturale del precedente "The stage names". Il leader della band di Austin (Texas) aveva dichiarato in passato che il disco pubblicato nel 2007 era stato concepito inizialmente come un doppio album.
Nonostante abbiano da poco subito l'abbandono del chitarrista e tastierista Jonathan Meiburg, gli Okkervil non hanno smesso di lavorare: hanno messo in download gratuito sul loro sito un disco di cover e saranno impegnati in tour per tutto l'anno.
