Grateful Dead, esce il cofanetto “Here Comes Sunshine 1973”
Il prossimo 30 giugno verrà pubblicato un cofanetto dei Grateful Dead intitolato “Here Comes Sunshine 1973”. Il box sarà di quelli corposi si compone infatti di 17 CD e include cinque esibizioni inedite in concerto: Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines, Iowa (13 maggio 1973); Campus Stadium, UCSB, Santa Barbara, California (20 maggio 1973); Kezar Stadium, San Francisco (26 maggio 1973) e Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, Washington, DC (9 e 10 giugno 1973).
Nelle note di copertina Ray Robertson scrive: "Forse ciò che rende quest'anno (e anche il '74) così infinitamente avvincente è la direzione jazzistica che prese la band. Questo era un gruppo di musicisti che l'uno l'altro si ascoltavano suonare. La somma è maggiore delle parti già piuttosto grandiose di loro perché le parti si ascoltavano e spesso venivano ispirate dai compagni. Questo è jazz. E 1973 propone i Dead al meglio del loro jazz."
Quale antipasto all'uscita è stata pubblicata "Ramble on Rose" all'RFK Stadium di Washington il 10 giugno 1973. In questo concerto, che ebbe una durata di quasi cinque ore, i Dead vennero raggiunti sul palco per i bis da Dickey Betts e Butch Trucks della Allman Brothers Band. Proposero otto brani, tra questi le cover di "Johnny B. Goode" di Chuck Berry e "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" di Bob Dylan.
Questo concerto verrà pubblicato anche come CD a parte disgiunto dal cofanetto oltre alla sua inclusione nel cofanetto.
