Mentre si è sempre in attesa del loro tredicesimo album di studio, i R.E.M. hanno deciso di regalare ai propri fan un DVD dal vivo. Il supporto s'intitola "Perfect square", sarà disponibile dal prossimo 23 febbraio e contiene lo show che il gruppo ha tenuto a Wiesbaden, Germania, lo scorso 19 luglio. Il nuovo CD di Michael Stipe e soci dovrebbe invece giungere nei negozi entro la fine dell'anno. Il cantante ha affermato che per ora il disco ha un sound "cristallino e vero". Tra i nuovi pezzi sui quali i R.E.M. hanno lavorato sono da annoverare "I'm gonna DJ", "Make it all OK" e "Weatherman".
