I Rolling Stones e tre competitor decisamente più giovani, e cioé M.I.A., Tame Impala ed Haim, sono in testa alle nomination degli NME Awards che saranno assegnati il prossimo 27 febbraio presso la nuova sede del Troxy. Il Troxy, nell'East End di Londra, fu costruito nel 1933 sul sito di una vecchia azienda birraria; cinema fino al 1960, ha poi ospitato il London Opera Centre per quindi chiudere come sala da bingo nel 2005. Acquisito da Ashburn Estates, i proprietari lo hanno fatto diventare una grande sala versatile e multifunzione (490 Commercial Road) che, tra concerti e feste, ospita anche matrimoni. Gli Stones sono in corsa per quattro categorie: Best Live Band, Best Book, Music Moment of The Year e Best Music Film. Mick Jagger ha detto: "Molto bello aver avuto delle nomination. Bello anche perché non è solo una cosa scelta dai giornalisti o da un ristretto gruppo di persone". A quota quattro anche Tame Impala (Best International Band, Best Album, Best Track e Best Music Video), Haim (Best New Band, Best Track, Best Music Video, Best Twitter) e M.I.A. (Best Track, Best Music Video, Best Dancefloor Anthem, Best Twitter).
