L’acronimo N.E.R.D., oltre a celare la frase “No One Ever Really Dies”, rappresenta il nome del progetto parallelo dei The Neptunes, uno tra i team di produttori più conosciuti nell’ambito hip hop.
La crew, formatasi nel 1997 dall’incontro tra Pharell Williams e Chad Hugo, si è fatta notare per le produzioni degli album di Jay Z, Mystikal e Backstreet Boys. “In search of” è il loro album di debutto con questa denominazione.
In alcuni brani partecipano amici musicisti dei produttori, tra cui la colorata cantante-rapper Kelis.
