Nel primo album, “Sings walkin’ and talkin’ (for my baby) and other smash hits!”, Eli “Paperboy” Reed & the True Loves omaggiarono soul e r’n’b compilando una raccolta di standard del genere. In “Roll with you” fanno un passo in avanti e tutta la produzione è a loro cura ma la qualità del prodotto non ne risente per nulla e rimane a livelli d’eccellenza. Sam Cooke, James Brown, Otis Redding e tutti i più celebrati campioni della musica soul degli anni sessanta sono i punti di riferimento di questi giovani ragazzi venuti dal Massachusetts e vengono omaggiati con grande affetto.
