Nuovo album in doppia versione per i Good Charlotte. "The chronicles of life and death" è stato infatti realizzato in due differenti stampe contenenti la medesima tracklist, ma con differenti bonus track: sulla "Live version" è stato inserito il brano "Falling away", mentre sulla "Death version" è inclusa la canzone "Meet my maker". Il nuovo disco punk-rock della band americana è stato prodotto da Eric Valentine, già al lavoro con i Good Charlotte nel precedente lavoro "The young and the hopeless".
