Paul McCartney ha annunciato l'uscita di una "raccolta definitiva" degli Wings, la band che fondò nel 1971 dopo il suo addio ai Beatles, composta insieme alla moglie Linda, al batterista Denny Seiwell e al chitarrista Denny Laine. Il cofanetto si intitola semplicemente "Wings" e sarà disponibile a partire dal prossimo 7 novembre. Supervisionata dallo stesso McCartney, la raccolta sarà pubblicata in vari formati, tra cui un'edizione limitata in tre vinili colorati, descritta come "una vera e propria capsula del tempo contenente una moltitudine di immagini e musica per i super fan della band". Ma il cofanetto uscirà anche in formato cd singolo e vinile singolo.
Tutti i formati fisici sono accompagnati da un booklet che include un'introduzione di Paul. Le edizioni 3LP e 2CD includono un libretto di 32 pagine con fotografie, dipinti, curiosità e informazioni sulla band. L'aspetto grafico di "Wings" è stato supervisionato da Macca insieme a Aubrey "Po" Powell di Hipgnosis, l'iconico studio di design che ha lavorato con Paul per sette album degli Wings, tra cui "Band on the run", "Venus and Mars", "Wings over America" e "Wings Greatest". Il libretto include note dettagliate, album per album, l'editoriale aggiuntivo di Pete Paphides e presenta gli artwork originali di Humphrey Ocean che ha lavorato con gli Wings su alcuni degli artwork di "Wings at the Speed of Sound" prima di essere invitato da Paul e Linda in tour nel 1976 come artist in residence, durante il quale realizzò ritratti della band dietro le quinte dei concerti.
