Justin Timberlake: unico bianco ai Soul Train Awards

Justin Timberlake si è guadagnato due nomination ai Soul Train Awards. Il premio, creato molti anni fa da Don Cornelius per eleggere i migliori interpreti della musica soul, r&b e hip hop, raramente ha accolto benevolmente artisti dalla pelle bianca e praticamente mai si sarebbe sognato di nominare addirittura un componente di una famosa boy band del pop. Eppure, Timberlake ha convinto la giuria grazie al suo album d’esordio come solista intitolato “Justified”, e dovrà vedersela con Gerald Levert, Jaheim e Musiq nella categoria “Miglior album r&b maschile”, mentre sarà in competizione con Usher, Maxwell e ancora Musiq per il trofeo di “Miglior singolo soul maschile”. L’ultima volta che un “bianco” ha vinto ai Soul Train risale al 1998, quando Boney James trionfò nella categoria jazz.
L’edizione numero 17 dei Soul Train Awards si terrà al Civic Auditorium di Pasadena, California, il prossimo primo marzo.
