I Dillinger Escape Plan sono una band del New Jersey molto nota tra gli amanti delle sonorità pesanti, ma non solo. La caratteristica principale della band è infatti quella di miscelare l'aggressività e la carica del metal con la complessità e la ricerca del math-rock e del free-jazz.
“Option paralysis” è il titolo del loro quarto capitolo discografico che arriva a tre anni di distanza dal precedente “Ire works”, un lavoro registrato nell'autunno del 2009, il primo per la loro neonata etichetta Party Smasher e debutto anche per il nuovo batterista Billy Rimer (il suo predecessore Gil Sharone ha abbandonato per dedicarsi alla band degli Stolen Babies). Tutti i testi sono ad opera del cantante Greg Puciato.
Il nome della band si ispira a quello del famoso rapinatore americano degli anni Trenta John Dillinger, sul quale recentemente anche il regista Michael Mann ha girato il film “Nemico pubblico”.
