A causa dei numerosi impegni dei membri della band, sono trascorsi ben cinque anni da “What we must”, l'ultimo lavoro in studio dei Jaga Jazzist. Il collettivo norvegese (composto stabilmente da una decina di elementi, molti dei quali temporanei), capitanato dai fratelli Lars, Line e Martin Hornveth, presenta oggi il quinto capitolo discografico “One-armed bandit”, ovvero “bandito con un solo braccio” (un modo gergale per chiamare la slot-machine).
L'album include nove brani strumentali, mixati da John McEntire dei Tortoise, episodi nei quali si incontrano jazz, post-rock, sonorità cinematiche, indie, musica classica, progressive e persino afro-beat.
