Giunto all’età di 89 anni il leggendario cantautore folk Pete Seeger pubblica un nuovo album intitolato, appunto, “At 89”.
Il disco giunge a cinque anni di distanza dall’ultimo lavoro in studio del folksinger americano ed include trentadue episodi registrati con l’ausilio di numerosi amici musicisti, di cui ventisei incisioni inedite (tra brani attuali e perle nascoste del passato), composizioni per banjo e chitarra e discorsi su temi cari all’artista come pacifismo e ambiente.
Pete Seeger, tornato alla ribalta grazie al tributo di Bruce Springsteen di qualche anno fa, è nato il 3 maggio 1919 e collaborò per diverso tempo con Woody Guthrie: fu tra i pochi negli Stati Uniti ad essersi schierato su posizioni comuniste e quindi ostracizzato dal maccartismo degli anni Cinquanta.
