I Midlake sono una formazione di Denton (Texas) costituitasi nel 2000 per opera di Paul Alexande, Eric Nichelson, Eric Pulido, Tim Smith e Mckenzie Smith. “The trials of Van Occupanther” è il secondo album del quintetto, un lavoro lo-fi ispirato al folk degli anni Settanta ed al rock di formazioni come Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse e Sparklehorse.
