Nel mese di febbraio i Blink 182 emanarono un comunicato stampa nel quale dichiararono la sospensione di ogni attività discografica a tempo indeterminato per dedicare più tempo alle proprie famiglie. Il documento lasciò però qualche speranza aperta per il proseguimento della carriera del gruppo con la frase “nessuno sa cosa serbi il futuro”. “Greatest hits” ha quindi il compito di ricapitolare in un unico volume tutti i più grandi successi del trio punk-rock californiano, brani come “What’s my age again?”, “All the small things”, “Adam’s song”, “I miss you”, “The rock show” ed altri ancora.
La pubblicazione include anche il brano inedito “Another girl another planet” e la bonus track “Aliens exist” registrata dal vivo a Los Angeles.
