Da quel che si evince il sound dei Stars sembra spingersi verso sonorità synth-pop e maggiormente elettroniche rispetto al passato. “The north” arriva a due anni di distanza da precedente album “The five ghosts” e undici dopo l’esordio “Nightsongs”: nel 2004 il gruppo di Toronto ha invece pubblicato “Set yourself on fire”, quello che fino ad oggi viene ancora considerato il loro lavoro di maggiore successo.
