Onori ad Aretha Franklin alla Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

07 nov 2011 - Aretha Franklin, 69 anni, ha ricevuto un omaggio e due riconoscimenti in un colpo solo. La Queen of Soul, il cui primo singolo per la Columbia risale al settembre 1960, quando aveva diciott'anni, ha trascorso una piacevole serata alla Rock and Roll Hall of Fame di Cleveland. Prima la grande cantante è stata intrattenuta da alcuni artisti che le hanno reso onore, tra i quali Lauryn Hill, Dennis Edwards dei Temptations e Chaka Khan, poi ha ricevuto le chiavi della città da Frank Jackson, sindaco di Cleveland, e infine ha avuto la laurea honoris causa da parte della Case Western Reserve University. Aretha non si sarebbe dovuta esibire, ma dopo tre ore di onori ed omaggi non ha potuto esimersi e, sedutasi al piano, ha cantato una "A song for you" -che Cleveland.com definisce "trascendentale- con Dennis Edwards. Dopo i problemi di salute dello scorso anno la cantante è parsa in buona forma e, come riferendosi ad essi, ha detto: "Sono qui per grazia di Dio. E la grazia mi farà andare avanti".
